Dosing Protocol

Every dose, guided with intention

Dosing at Psylowise is never self-directed. Every session is calibrated collaboratively with your licensed facilitator — based on your intentions, screening, and clinical guidance, not a fixed formula.

How dosing decisions are made

Oregon's psilocybin services framework does not set a fixed dose for facilitators to follow. Instead, your facilitator determines the right dose for your session based on your intake screening, therapeutic goals, prior experience, and real-time clinical judgment during your preparation session. This is a deliberate safeguard — dosing at Psylowise is a guided clinical decision, not a menu selection.

Dose categories in research

01

Low / Threshold Dose

Used in early clinical trials as a comparison point to test whether effects are due to psilocybin itself. Associated with mild, subtle shifts in perception.

02

Moderate Dose

The category most often used in early treatment sessions within a multi-session therapeutic arc, allowing participants to build familiarity with the experience before a full session.

03

Full / High Dose

The category most associated with the sustained mental health benefits seen in published research on depression, anxiety, and end-of-life distress — always administered under direct facilitator supervision in a controlled setting.

These categories reflect terminology used in published clinical research (including studies at Johns Hopkins, COMPASS Pathways, and the Usona Institute) and are provided for general education only. Your actual session dose is determined individually by your Psylowise facilitator and is not selected by you.

What influences your dose

  • Your intake screening and health history
  • Your prior experience with psilocybin, if any
  • Your therapeutic goals for the session
  • Body weight and individual sensitivity, as assessed by your facilitator
  • Real-time observation during your preparation session

Important Safety Information

Psilocybin is not appropriate for everyone. Individuals with certain heart conditions, a personal or family history of psychosis, or those taking certain medications (including SSRIs) should discuss this with a healthcare provider and disclose it during screening. Sessions are only available to individuals 21 years or older through a licensed Psylowise facilitator.
